Our Leadership
The Lelei Foundation is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors comprising 15 members — 9 based in the United States and 6 in Kenya — who together provide strategic oversight of the foundation's mission, operations, and long-term direction. Our board members bring diverse professional backgrounds and a rich range of expertise, united by a shared passion for educational equity and community empowerment.
Since launching our fundraising efforts in 2019, this team has helped raise more than $700,000 toward our goal — a testament to their tireless commitment and generosity of spirit. We are working toward a first-phase milestone of $1 million to complete construction of our school, and our board leads that effort with energy and purpose.
Our Executive Director provides hands-on leadership of the foundation's day-to-day operations, including managing committees and volunteers, coordinating programs, and developing operational plans in close collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Together, the leadership team drives strategic planning, maintains rigorous financial accountability, and champions the foundation's work through advocacy, networking, and volunteer engagement. They are tireless ambassadors for our mission — opening doors, building relationships, and strengthening the foundation's capacity to create lasting change.
At the heart of everything we do is a deep belief in the transformative power of education. Our leaders show up not just as stewards of an organization, but as champions of a movement — committed to improving lives, one community at a time.
